Weary Traveler

‘Weary Traveler’ by Wendy Bloom, Acrylic on Canvas, December 2017

The path I follow daily

seems circular not straight

A Labyrinth, never arriving at it’s destination

of safety, security, good health and joy

Sought after year upon year

Have I come closer at all

to winning this priceless treasure?

I am like a disoriented child

spinning around with a blindfold on

and stumbling for the piñata

Yet, I continue my journey

seeing only inches in front of me

and the thick fog beyond

Obscuring my sight

and my knowledge of what to expect next

in this world of hardship, suffering

and inexplicable beauty
